After years of pioneering collaboration, the AQUAEXCEL3.0 project has officially reached its final chapter!
Last week, the AQUAEXCEL consortium gathered in Paris for a Final Meeting, marking the culmination of a journey that began back in 2011. It was a chance to reflect on our significant achievements and celebrate the lessons learned throughout the project’s evolution.
The meeting kicked off with each Work Package presenting their final updates, sharing key insights, and outlining the last crucial steps before closure. On the second day, WP1 lead Stirling University revealed the impressive scale of our Transnational Access (TNA) programme. This session was enriched by direct feedback from TNA Managers, confirming the programme’s success. The momentum continued with a dynamic session carried out by WP2 lead EATiP, featuring presentations from three project Success Story owners. The Industry & Research Advisory Panel (IRAP) was also brought up to the stage to discuss how their experience has been throughout the lifetime of the project.
It has been an honour to contribute to the growth of EU aquaculture and establish valuable, lasting connections. Along the way, we have developed impactful research, paved the way for improving welfare, and successfully enabled major advancements across several critical areas. The work, backed by the integration of 40 top-class research facilities across Europe, ensures the knowledge and network we’ve built will continue to create impact well beyond this final meeting, consolidating the global leadership of European aquaculture research.
Thank you to every researcher, partner, and supporter who made this journey possible. The final chapter of AQUAEXCEL3.0 is merely the opening of a new book for the future of sustainable aquaculture!
